It's been a while since I launched my last collection, and in the intervening time I've been working on some personal projects as well as figuring out what to do with the next collection. While I enjoy making lots of sustainable home decor products for others to enjoy, the constant manufacturing and usage of resources is, ironically, not sustainable.
It's not sustainable to keep buying supplies to make lots of things that might never get used, no matter how much I market them. It's also not sustainable for me personally to spend 100 hours on a collection that will only pay me $1000.00 one time.
So I've shifted to making less projects and writing more patterns and instructions on making those projects. On a personal level, this means I'll be paid on a one-time as well as future/continuous basis. On a service level, this allows other makers the option to craft their own projects. Non-crafters will still be able to buy finished products. In addition to handcrafted projects, I have also joined with a print-on-demand service to offer some unique products to all of you lovely buyers.
My commitment to sustainability remains as steadfast as ever. Print-on-demand means products are made only when ordered, which cuts down on overproduction. I have also prioritized the eco-friendly products offered - items made from organic or recycled materials. In my crafting, I'll continue to select supplies that are best for the environment/humanity.
Since I'll be making less handcrafted projects, I will not be doing any more "full" collections. Instead I'll be making/releasing a few items here and there. To that end, I'm sharing the details for the next project which is centered on the 1995 classic film Clueless. I'm making 2 blankets based on the Cher Horowitz Yellow Plaid - one knit and one crochet. There'll be patterns for both that crafters can purchase. Both finished blankets will also be available to buy.
In case you're wondering, yes I'm doing more Movie/TV/Book-inspired knits. In Spring 2022 I received such a great response to the Miss Fine Mohair Sweater and I've been thinking up more pop-culture related projects since everybody seems to love them so much!
If you have a specific onscreen sweater/pattern/project in mind you'd like to see, email me at taliamulrich@gmail.com to let me know! I'd love to add more ideas to the list.
