It was the dead of November 2022 and I had just wrapped up my third rewatch of the original Gossip Girl TV show when I had this idea to do an Edith Wharton inspired collection for my shop. For those who don't know, Gossip Girl was heavily inspired by Wharton's novels, specifically The Age of Innocence. The gossip! The drama! The scandal! Not much has changed for New York's (fictional) elite in the 87 years between The Age of Innocence publication and the first season of Gossip Girl.
At first I thought I'd exclusively google 1870s fashion and home decor trends but then I figured I might do a mix of both ages, modern and gilded. I didn't want to spend hours making an uncomfortable dress with multiple skirts that I would never wear and that would be too expensive for anyone to buy. So, the memory of the show fresh in my mind, I sat down with some wine, coffee, tea, more wine, and a copy of The Age of Innocence. Sorry, did I not mention this was over several weeks?
The result of this painstaking research is a collection that has its inspiration in The Age of Innocence and Gossip Girl but isn't "themed" - each item has a description indicating how it's connected to the novel and/or the television show.
(Please note: many items were removed from the shop on June 22nd, 2023 as Talia has put her inventory in storage and headed to the UK on an adventure)
